HARIO Satellites is first concept shop of HARIO, a domestic heat-resistant glass manufacturer. This shop concept show will embody the “Japanese culture” and located at the Haneda international airport new shopping district, a new hotel development for foreigner. Instead of having the traditional design approach, we decided to show the potential of craftsmanship as it is one of the most well-known character of Japanese culture.
We decide to create the space with Australian white sand, the raw material for HARIO product. White sand represents the identity of HARIO (Glass manufacturer), and is it made by the traditional Japanese plastering method that require high craftsmanship level. The special made “Sakan wall” is using Australian pure white sand and combining with Japanese plastering technique. As for the technique of making “White Sand Wall”, first layer is made with grey plaster with extremely uneven texture, second layer also the finish surface is made with the “White Sand”. Combining with the plastering technique from the Sakan wall makers, we create pattern with organic strips that can seamlessly express the luxury of marble.
